Season Registrations
Triboro Youth Hockey offers numerous programs designed to meet the needs of all of our athletes. We offer programs for those just starting out, to include: learn to skate and learn to play (mosquitos). We also offer programs for those who are ready for competitive play (Mites through Midgets). Additionally, Triboro routinely offers player/goalie skills clinics and advanced skating skills for those looking to hone their skills outside of their team practices/games.
PROGRAMS
Learn to Skate: Athletes ages 10 and under that are brand new to ice skating and/or have very minimal experience.
Advanced Skating Skills: Athletes of all ages that have already learned to skate and are looking for additional skating instruction.
Mosquitos (LTP): Younger athletes who have prior skating experience that are ready to learn to fundamentals of hockey. This program focuses on building beginner hockey skills through the use of stations or small-game situations.
Mites: Athletes ages 8 and younger that are ready for competitive play. The half-ice program is geared towards teaching players the basics of hockey through the utilization of a smaller setting and fast-moving
Squirts: Athletes ages 8 - 10 years old. These players are competing in competitive full-ice games. Our teams compete in the Valley Hockey League and can expect to receive at least three (3) hours of ice time a week which consists of a mix of games and practices.
Peewees: Athletes ages 10 - 12 years old. These players are competing in competitive full-ice games. Our teams compete in the Valley Hockey League and can expect to receive at least three (3) hours of ice time a week which consists of a mix of games and practices.
Bantam: Athletes ages 12 - 14 years old. These players are competing in competitive full-ice games. Our teams compete in the Valley Hockey League and can expect to receive at least three (3) hours of ice time a week which consists of a mix of games and practices.
When
What time of the year does this program run?
Example: Season begins with tryouts in August and runs until playoffs in February.
Where
Where are practices and games typically held?
Example: Practices and home games are held at the RecPlex. Games may be played across the metro region.
Practices
When are practices and how often are they?
Example: Teams practice 2-3 times per week.
Games
How many games will they play? What days of the week?
Example: Teams will play 20-30 games over the course of the season and will usually fall on the weekends.
Jerseys
Are jerseys provided or are they purchased separately?
Example: Club jerseys are required and may be purchased at TJ Sporting Goods.
Extra Costs
What costs beyond registration fees should be expected?
USA Hockey Registration: All players are required to be registered with USA Hockey. This is an annual registration fee that can range between $17 and $79 depending on the age of the player.
Uniforms: Players between the ages of Mites-Midgets are required to purchase a game jersey and socks. Typically, the cost to purchase both is around $100.
Equipment: Making sure your athlete has the appropriate equipment is the responsibility of parents/guardians and can be a cost that varies depending on size and type of gear needed.
Tournaments: Teams between the ages of Mites-Midgets often chose to participate in non-league tournaments in addition their league play. Participation in tournaments is typically voluntary but can include additional fees as well as the requirement to pay for travel/food/lodging depending on the location of the tournament.
